What does a bin enclosure cost in 2026? Prices, price drivers and budget

What does a bin enclosure cost?

A simpler bin enclosure for two bins normally lands around 10,000–20,000 SEK, while a complete sorting station for all fractions in a larger association can cost 100,000 SEK or more. The range is wide because every property is unique – number of households, number of fractions and collection intervals determine the size.

    Price drivers to consider

    • Number of bins and fractions – each additional fraction requires bin space and enclosure width.
    • Collection frequency – bi-weekly collection requires larger volume than weekly collection.
    • Choice of material – composite costs more initially than wood but avoids painting and replacements.
    • Ground and foundation – paving, drainage and any hardened surface are additional.
    • Building permit and drawings – the municipality's fee plus design work.

What is included in a quote from Compfence?

We always provide a fixed price for enclosures, assembly and delivery, as well as drawing documentation for the building permit application. See our range on the page for bin enclosures, and read about the regulations in our review of the legal requirements for bin enclosures.

Total cost over time – not the purchase price

A wooden enclosure needs painting every three to five years. Calculated over 20 years, maintenance is often more expensive than the price difference compared to composite. Read more in our article on ROI and cost savings.

    How the board budgets correctly

Include purchase, ground work, building permits, electricity/lighting and signage. Add a 10% margin for contingencies. If you need documentation for the general meeting, we can help with calculations and drawings.
