Bin cabinets for four-compartment bins - Complete guide
Four-compartment bins are becoming more common to facilitate sorting directly in the household.
What is a four-compartment bin?
A bin (usually 660L) with four separate compartments for different fractions in the same container. Common division: food waste, paper, plastic, residual waste.
Advantages
Less space needed, easier for residents, fewer bins to empty, better sorting.
Dimensioning bin cabinets
The bin cabinet must accommodate the four-compartment bin plus: 300mm extra space in front, 150mm on the sides, and space for the lid to open.
Accessibility
At least 1.5m in front of the bin cabinet for wheelchairs, opening height 70-120cm, clear labeling of compartments.
